1. It's been sunny enough to put washing out on the line today and get it dry despite extremely thick frost and snow left in the garden since last week. My garden is a sun trap which is going to be very nice in the summer as I have a peach tree and a lemon tree which will like the sheltered wall they are going to be planted next to when the ground is ( Read more... )

2017 arrived fairly quietly around our new home which was nice.  There were fireworks at midnight, but they weren't close by and didn't go on for very long which was good. My previous neighbour sent me a text complaining about the people who bought our old house who had very loud fireworks at 5pm and the other people in the road who apparently were ( Read more... )

Yesterday daiseechain and I went up to the Barts Hospital pathology museum for the Odette Toilette Mummy Unwrapping event. We met up at Farringdon station and walked around to the museum in Barts Hospital, where we were greeted with a choice of either gin, dry sherry or madeira to drink (I had the sherry which was very nice). Yesterday I baked the no knead bread I had set proving on Monday.  The dough rose really well overnight (this taken just as I knocked it back as I forgot to take one of it fully risen but you can see the good gluten strands in the dough!)

I now seem to be able to upload photos!  So here is the main living space - it's hard to see as both photos were taken when outside was really bright so my poor little phone camera wasn't cooperating and makes it look darker than it is indoors ( Read more... )

I can't believe we've been in this house for four weeks, it feels so much longer!  I keep having to stop myself from turning down the road to our old house in the car when I go out.... *g*
